From a hostile city full of watchful shadows to a colorful expanded desert and a cave echoing with harmony, there are various maps that you can wander around in this game. There is also this one mysterious dark void full of invisible platforms and tonally-controlled orbits. In addition, this game also introduces you with charming and colorful characters, including the Hermit. This character will serve as your guide as you go through more complex vocal mechanics. The Hermit will also give you notes that you will need to reach to progress in the game. One Hand Clapping is a 2D game with similarly abstract, if a bit more cartoon-ish graphics. Each location comes with a colorful design that would appeal to younger audiences. More so, it comes with a very unique avatar designed as a gender-less, purple-colored round person, with large mournful eyes and a snazzy turquoise bandanna.

Unique Game Mechanics

Playing One Hand Clapping is easy. All you need is a microphone, a headset, and your voice. Most of the game mechanics would vaguely remind you of the lead singer mode in the Rock Band game app. Before you can start playing, you need to calibrate the game to your voice. To do so, you need to hum, whistle or sing your lowest, comfortable note and save it. Your saved note will be the base pitch in the duration of the game. To explore the game maps, you would need to move your character around, using the controls. But there are certain areas wherein you will need to sing a few notes to move forward. Pitch and tempo must match for you to be able to create bridges and walkways as well as open portals. Also, there are parts of the game where you need to sing to change your environment. The notes that you need to sing is based on your calibrated pitch at the start of the game. If you find it hard to reach notes in the middle of the game, you can pause the game and re-calibrate your pitch.

One Hand Clapping is a nice game app that is worth-playing. It has a great game concept that is fun to play, even if you are not a great singer.
